Hidden Figures of Screen Music and Sound
11.30 - 5pm BST Online
23 - 24 June 2020
This conference explored and celebrated the work of hidden figures in the production of music and sound for screen media. Whether those individuals are ‘hidden’ in terms of belonging to a community underrepresented in the industry, or because they work in less-visible production and post-production roles, the conference aim was to better recognize their creative input, and to examine why they have often been overlooked and marginalized.
The event was originally to be hosted at Royal Holloway, University of London, but instead took place online via Zoom. The full conference programme can be found here.
A Note From the Organisers
Thank you to all of our presenters and attendees for a fantastic event. The papers and discussions were of an excellent standard, and we’re glad that the online conferencing technology not only held together but also allowed us to make the event widely accessible.
This website will continue to exist, as a record of the 2020 conference but also as an evolving resource around our topic of ‘hidden figures’ in the production of music and sound for screen media.
Please send feedback on the conference, or ideas for next steps, to the conference email address.
